Others will call these a risk but to others is not only a source of income but prosperity and entrepreneurship,for most of business owners in urban centres a long the northern circuit tourist zone of Tanzania,East Africa,their income come from these precious stone.
A long the south east of Arusha town some few kilometres stands Mererani trading centres,these area is where most of Tanzanite mining activities takes places,known locally as "Migodini",which literally means mining area.
Most of the mining activities are done locally and the concentration of the mining is located in some terrain which is really risk and very adventurer,seeing how things are get done here one cannot believe with the charming of building and company owned by some of success Tanzanite dealers,they rule the streets not only of Arusha town but as far as Nairobi in Kenya and now the new entree Johannesburg of south Africa.
Locally known as the "Jiwe",it's local mining sector has employed thousands of Tanzanians and it's a daily source of income for many,miners will go days in camping a long their sites and the activities takes days as men work hard under the open hole mining like.some few owners provide some safety gears but most of the times one has to risk working without proper safety gears.
